How we can help you:

ASP holds walk-in support workshops, open to members and the public, once a month at both the Birmingham Branch and the Leicester Branch.   Parents, family members or friends of anyone experiencing contact difficulties are encouraged to attend.  These advice and support sessions are held in an informal setting, in a spirit of openness and friendliness, and everything discussed is treated with the utmost confidence.  Attending these workshops can be of great benefit, as you will meet several other people who have had similar experiences to your own and who can share their knowledge and experience with you.  We also:

  • Offer telephone support
  • Explain how the court system works - step by step
  • Advise you on how to prepare for a court hearing
  • Help you choose a solicitor
  • Help you to represent yourself in court should you choose to do so
  • Help you to prepare for meetings with CAFCASS (Children and Family Court Advisory and Support Service)
  • Help you focus on the needs of your child/children

ASP provides support in a number of ways.  We hold walk-in support workshops once a month at both our Leicester Branch and our Birmingham Branch.  We also provide telephone support to parents experiencing difficulties.

ASP is a registered charity and is run entirely by unpaid volunteers.  Parents who turn to ASP for ongoing support are invited to take out membership at £20 per annum or £18 by Standing Order. Alternatively one-off donations are just as welcome.  ASP membership is open to anyone who shares the ASP aim and ethos of helping children to sustain a relationship with both parents following divorce or separation.

Membership Benefits:

Membership brings with it a variety of benefits.  It allows access to a members' area on the ASP website (facility coming soon).  Members also receive one-on-one support when necessary, and help with preparing for a court hearing.  ASP can explain how the court system works, step by step.  ASP can provide assistance with representing yourself as a litigant in person if that is what you feel is best.  We also offer members who do choose to represent themselves the option of being assisted by an ASP representative in court known as a ‘McKenzie Friend’, subject to availability and distance.

You are able to become a member either by clicking on a Subscribe button below (bank card details required) or by downloading the membership application form and posting it along with your payment to ASP. You are also able to become a member by attending either of the Birmingham or Leicester workshops and joining in person.
