Starting Kef's blog

This is a greeting and an opening statement.

First, disclaimers. Like most blogs it will be hit and miss, depending on time, stimulus and inclination. Its not an official ASP blog, in that things will be said here that have not been endorsed as official policy. Occasionally, it will be whimsical, satirical and while not often deliberately intended to be funny, it will sometimes be ironical and irreverent. But the overall orientation will be'shared parenting', and it will be serious about that. By shared parenting is meant the rights of children -unless there is adequate contrary reason - to be brought up with the full love and care of both their parents (and wider family if they have then) even if the parents live apart. And it will respect that the Association is a charity whose first responsibility is to support the rights of children by working with their parents - usually the one they are not allowed to see enough of, if at all, to enable the children to have a proper relationship with them. We are an equal responsibility charity that respects diversity.

The second responsibility of the charity is to lobby and educate, in the ways charities have always done, for the removal of the problem at source. To win the respect of Society and the relevant authorities within it, for the rights of children in this respect.

Who is the blogger? Anonymous, but not new to this field.

Why Kef? Short for Kefalonian, traditionally a follower of the Greek hero, Oddyseus, noted for his courage when that was called for, but also for his cunning and diplomatic skills.
